Real Client Project

Real Client Case Study: Raw Reference to Final Render

The real CAD-to-render workflow from a paid hip-hop grillz manufacturing project — reference intake through diamond setting to the approved final render. Built for manufacturers evaluating an outsourced CAD + rendering partner.

01

Reference photos & spec intake

Client sent reference images and a written spec (tooth layout, stone placement, pink-diamond accent) before any modeling began.

02

CAD build & first check render

CAD file built and a first check image sent for metal-tone approval; corrected same day and approved before full rendering.

03

Diamond setting & engineering spec

Every stone's cut, size and carat weight documented, with total metal weight calculated across 5 metal options (10K-18K gold, silver, platinum) - production-accurate, not just good-looking.

04

First full render delivered

First complete render video delivered. Client felt it didn't read as strongly as an earlier reference video - a fair reaction that needed a real answer.

05

The turning point: one locked spec

Team explained why the look changed (lighter background, same render quality) and got one final written spec from the client before re-rendering - the single source of truth from then on.

06

Refinement & sign-off on final design

Working strictly from the locked spec, a fresh render pass plus a diamond-color reference sheet settled the exact accent-stone color - client approved the final design set immediately.

07

Final render, approved and paid same day

Final photorealistic render video delivered to the locked spec. Client approved on sight, paid the same day, and had a follow-up project queued before this one had even closed.

Final Delivery

The Final Render, Exactly As the Client Received It

The approved photorealistic render video delivered at the end of this project — 10K-18K gold, silver and platinum spec, pink pear-diamond accent, engraved detail. Signed off on sight and paid the same day.

The Outcome

"Looks great." Paid the same day - and his next project was already on its way.

Hip-hop and Cuban jewellery CAD: built to be cast, not just to look iced

Street-luxe pieces are the hardest jewellery to get right in CAD. A Cuban link has to articulate and lie flat, a fully iced pendant has hundreds of stones that each need a seat and a prong, and a chunky ring must carry its weight without a soft spot at the shank. We build these pieces the way a manufacturer needs them — every link, stone and wall dimension set for casting — and then render them the way a customer wants to see them.

The workflow on this page is the one we use for every custom order: reference and spec first, a check render before full detailing, a written stone-and-metal spec, then the CAD revision rounds (up to 3) before sign-off.

What we build

  • Cuban chains and bracelets, including baguette-set Cubans, with link geometry modelled to articulate and a clasp sized to the chain.
  • Iced-out letter and custom pendants: initials, names, logos and shapes, with pavé or prong layouts mapped stone by stone.
  • Chunky rings and signet rings, with shank and shoulder thickness set for the metal so the piece carries its weight.
  • Grillz and custom mouth pieces from reference photos and a written spec, including tooth layout and accent stones.
  • Baguette, round and mixed-cut layouts, with each stone's cut and size documented so the setter receives what the render shows.

The spec sheet that comes with the model

For stone-heavy pieces the CAD file alone is not enough. We document every stone's cut, size and carat weight by section, and calculate the metal weight across the alloys you sell in — 10K, 14K and 18K gold, silver and platinum — so you can quote the customer and brief the setter before casting. The render matches the spec, not the other way round.

How a custom piece runs

  • Reference photos or a sketch plus a written spec: size, metal, stone type and any accent detail.
  • CAD build and a first check image for metal tone and proportions — corrected and approved before full stone-setting.
  • Stone setting and the engineering spec: seats, prongs, wall thickness, weights per alloy.
  • Full render for review; you mark changes and we revise until it reads exactly as the reference you had in mind.
  • Approved files delivered: 3DM for editing, STL for printing, plus the render or video for your customer and your feed.

Renders, videos and drops

Because the model already exists, product renders in each metal tone, on-body images and a 360° rotation video are produced from the same file — useful for pre-selling a drop before the first piece is cast, and for showing a custom client the exact piece before they pay for it.

Frequently asked questions

Can you model a Cuban link so it actually articulates?

Yes. Link geometry, clearance and the clasp are modelled for movement and for lying flat, and the links are modelled so they can be cast and assembled the way your workshop works.

How do you handle hundreds of stones on an iced pendant?

Each stone gets its own seat and prong layout in CAD, and the spec sheet lists cut, size and count per section so the setter knows exactly what to buy and set.

What does hip-hop CAD design cost?

CAD design starts from $10 per design as an indicative starting rate on our price list; heavily iced and multi-part pieces are quoted after we see the reference.

How long does a custom piece take?

Standard CAD, rendering and animation first drafts are delivered in 2 days, without compromising quality. Stone-heavy pieces move through the check-render and revision steps described above.

Can I get metal weights for different karats before casting?

Yes. The spec sheet calculates metal weight across the alloys you sell in — 10K, 14K and 18K gold, silver and platinum — so you can quote before anything is cast.

Do you also make the render video for the customer?

Yes. Photoreal stills in each metal tone and a 360° rotation video come from the same model, ready for the customer's approval and for your social posts.
