Pendant CAD design: from a sketch to a model your caster can print
A pendant is usually the first piece a brand designs in CAD, because it is small, symmetrical and easy to brief — and it is also where most production surprises happen: a bail too thin to solder, a stone seat with no room for the prong tips, a back left solid where it should be open. Our pendant CAD work starts from your sketch, photo or reference and ends with a 3D-printable model that has already been checked for those problems.
The same model then produces the photoreal renders and 360° videos for your listing, so the piece customers see online is the piece that comes back from the caster.
What we model
- Classic shapes: hearts, crosses, discs, initials and religious pendants at the exact millimetre size you specify.
- Geometric and modern pieces: clean lines, flat facets and negative space, built so the edges stay crisp after casting and polishing.
- Custom designs: a sketch, a photo of an existing pendant you want remade, or a description with measurements — we propose the details you have not decided yet and mark them in the first draft.
- Stone-set pendants: halo, cluster, bezel and pavé layouts with seats and prongs sized for the stones you list.
- Pendants designed as a matching set with earrings or a ring, sharing the same proportions and stone sizes.
What the model includes
Every pendant is built at production scale: metal thickness, bail opening, stone seats and prong dimensions are set for casting, not only for the picture. We deliver the file in the formats your workshop needs — 3DM for further editing and STL for printing. If you also need a manufacturing-style spec (stone counts and sizes per section, estimated metal weight per alloy), ask for it with the brief.
How to brief a pendant
- Overall height and width in millimetres, and the chain thickness the bail has to take.
- Metal and finish: yellow, rose or white gold, platinum or silver; polished, brushed or matte.
- Stones, if any: shape, size in millimetres or carats, and how many.
- One reference image or sketch, front view at minimum; a side view helps with thickness and bail placement.
- What is fixed and what we may improve — proportions, the bail, or a detail you are unsure about.
How the work runs
- Send the brief through the sketch upload form or by email.
- Standard CAD, rendering and animation first drafts are delivered in 2 days, without compromising quality.
- Mark changes on the draft; up to 3 revisions are included. Approve the final and receive the 3DM and STL files.
- Add photoreal renders or a 360° video from the same model whenever you are ready to list the piece.

Can you design a pendant from a photo instead of a sketch?
Yes. A clear front-view photo with a known size reference is enough to start; tell us what to keep and what to change, and we confirm the measurements in the first draft.
Which file formats do you deliver?
3DM for editing and STL for 3D printing and casting as standard. Other formats can be exported on request.
Is the model ready for 3D printing and casting?
Yes. Wall thickness, bail opening, stone seats and prongs are built at production scale and checked before delivery, so the file can go straight to your caster.
