Jewelry Video Specs for Etsy, Amazon, Shopify and Instagram
The official video limits for Etsy listings, Amazon product pages, Shopify and Instagram Reels — length, size, resolution, aspect ratio — and how one 360° render covers all of them.
Updated 11 September 2026

Each marketplace publishes its own limits for product video, and they disagree with each other on almost everything: Etsy wants a silent clip of 3–15 seconds, Amazon accepts up to 12 minutes with audio, Instagram wants a vertical frame. This guide collects the official numbers as they stand, explains what they mean for a jewelry video in particular, and shows how a single 360° render is exported to meet all four without re-shooting.
The official limits at a glance
The figures below come from each platform's own help pages (Etsy Help Center, Amazon Seller Central shoppable video guide, Shopify Help Center, Instagram Help Center) and were checked on 11 September 2026. Platforms revise these; check the linked page before a large upload.
| Platform | Length | File size | Resolution | Aspect ratio | Audio | Formats |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy listing video | 3–15 seconds | 100 MB max | 500 px minimum, 1080 px ideal | 2:1 to 1:2 | Removed on upload | MP4, MOV, FLV, AAC, AVI, 3GP, MPEG |
| Amazon product page video | 1–12 minutes | 5 GB max | Up to 1080p | 16:9 horizontal or 9:16 vertical | Allowed; clear audio expected | MP4, MOV |
| Shopify product media | Up to 10 minutes | 1 GB max | Up to 4K (4096 × 2160) | Any (theme decides display) | Allowed | MP4, MOV, WebM |
| Instagram Reels | Platform limit applies at upload | — | 720 px minimum, 30 fps minimum | Between 1.91:1 and 9:16 | Allowed | Standard phone/MP4 |
Two extra details matter for jewelry. Etsy allows two videos per listing, and Amazon's thumbnail (JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP, under 5 MB) is what shoppers see before pressing play, so it should be a clean still of the piece, not a blurred first frame.
What each platform's rules mean for a jewelry clip
Etsy strips the audio and caps you at 15 seconds, so the clip has to work as a silent loop: one slow rotation, or a rotation plus a short close-up on the setting. A 360° turntable at 10–12 seconds fits the window exactly and reads as one continuous motion when the listing page loops it. Etsy's 2:1 to 1:2 rule means square (1:1) and 4:5 both qualify; square is the safest because the listing gallery crops less.
Amazon is the opposite: it is built for demonstration, expects audio, and applies a review before publishing. Its own guidance asks for videos that are "descriptive, demonstrative and product-focused" and prohibits external links, promotional calls to action, third-party branding and misleading claims. For jewelry that means a plain rotation with the stone and metal clearly visible, an on-model or scale shot, and no price or discount text in the frame. Videos appear in the main media block only when the listing has fewer than six images, so decide which slot the video is worth.
Shopify is the most permissive — up to 4K and 10 minutes — and the display is decided by your theme. Most product templates show media in a square or 4:5 tile, so a 1:1 export at 1080 or 2160 px sits cleanly next to your stills.
Instagram Reels wants a vertical frame. The upload range is 1.91:1 to 9:16, but Reels are consumed full-screen at 9:16, and the interface overlays captions, the account name and the action buttons along the bottom and right edge. Keep the piece in the centre of the frame and away from the lowest quarter.

One render, four exports
A rendered 360° video is not a recording of a physical turntable; it is a camera path around a 3D model. That is what makes the multi-platform problem cheap to solve:
- Re-framing costs nothing. The same rotation is rendered once and exported as 1:1 for Etsy and Shopify, 16:9 for Amazon and 9:16 for Reels — the camera is simply re-cropped or re-positioned, and the jewelry stays centred in every version.
- Length is a setting. A 12-second loop for Etsy and a 30–60-second version for Amazon with a close-up section come from the same animation.
- Resolution is a setting too. Export at 1080p for Etsy and Amazon, 4K for Shopify or ads, 720p where a small file matters.
- Metal colours are material changes. Yellow, rose and white gold versions of the same rotation come from one file, which is how a three-variant listing gets three matching videos.
- Backgrounds are separable. A transparent WebM export lets the same rotation sit on a white product page and on a coloured campaign page.
Our video exports follow the specifications published on the 360° rotation videos page: 1080p and 4K, MP4 and WebM (including transparent WebM), 30 fps for the web or 60 fps for very smooth motion, and file sizes optimised for fast loading.
Recommended export set per listing
| Use | Aspect | Resolution | Length | Frame rate | Format |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy listing video | 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 | 10–15 s loop | 30 fps | MP4, no audio |
| Amazon product video | 16:9 | 1920 × 1080 | 20–60 s | 30 fps | MP4 + JPEG thumbnail |
| Shopify product page | 1:1 or 4:5 | 1080 or 2160 px | 10–20 s loop | 30 fps | MP4 (WebM optional) |
| Instagram Reel | 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 | 7–15 s | 30 fps | MP4 |
| Hero video on your own site | 16:9 | 1920 × 1080 | 6–10 s loop | 30 fps | MP4 + WebM, poster image |
Frame rate: all four platforms accept 30 fps, and Instagram states 30 fps as its minimum. 60 fps makes a slow rotation look smoother on high-refresh phones but doubles the frames rendered; it is worth it for hero videos and ads, rarely for a 15-second Etsy loop.
Common reasons a jewelry video is rejected or looks wrong
- Etsy upload fails or is silently cut. The clip is over 15 seconds or over 100 MB. Trim to a single rotation and export at 1080 px with a moderate bitrate.
- Amazon rejects the video. On-screen price, "buy now" text, a website URL or another brand's logo in the frame. Amazon also flags blurry or low-quality footage — a render at 1080p with a clean thumbnail avoids both.
- Reels crop the piece. A square or landscape clip uploaded to Reels is padded or cropped to vertical; export a true 9:16 version with the piece centred.
- Sparkle flickers. Fast rotations or low frame rates make faceted stones strobe. A slower rotation (one full turn in 8–12 seconds) at 30 fps keeps the sparkle readable.
- Metal looks grey. Compression crushes the highlights on polished metal. Keep the bitrate high enough that the reflections stay clean; a white-background 1:1 clip at 1080 px usually lands well under 20 MB.
Checklist before you upload
- Etsy: 3–15 s, under 100 MB, 1:1 or within 2:1–1:2, no audio needed
- Amazon: MP4/MOV, up to 1080p, 16:9 or 9:16, no price/URL/CTA on screen, clean JPEG thumbnail under 5 MB
- Shopify: MP4/MOV/WebM, under 1 GB, up to 4K
- Instagram Reels: 9:16, at least 720 px, at least 30 fps, piece centred away from the bottom quarter
- Same lighting and rotation speed across every variant video
360° rotation videos are included in the Website Combo, which starts at $20 per design, and animation and marketing videos start at $50 per video (indicative starting rates). See Pricing or upload your CAD file or sketch for a quote.
Frequently asked questions
How long can an Etsy listing video be?
Etsy's Help Center states that listing videos may be 3–15 seconds long, up to 100 MB, and that audio is removed on upload. You can add two videos per listing.
What are Amazon's product video requirements?
Amazon's shoppable video guide lists MOV or MP4 format, a maximum size of 5 GB, resolution up to 1080p, 16:9 horizontal or 9:16 vertical aspect ratio, a duration of 1–12 minutes, and a JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP thumbnail under 5 MB. Videos must not include external links, promotional calls to action or third-party branding.
What size should a jewelry Reel be?
Instagram accepts Reels with an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 9:16, a minimum resolution of 720 pixels and a minimum frame rate of 30 fps. Export at 1080 × 1920 (9:16) with the piece centred and clear of the bottom of the frame where captions and buttons sit.
What video formats does Shopify accept for products?
Shopify's Help Center lists MP4, MOV and WebM, up to 10 minutes long, up to 1 GB, and up to 4K (4096 × 2160 px).
Can one 360° video be used on all four platforms?
Yes. Because a rendered rotation is generated from a 3D model, the same animation is exported at each platform's aspect ratio, length and resolution without re-shooting.
Is 30 fps enough for a jewelry rotation video?
Yes for listings; every platform here accepts 30 fps and Instagram sets it as the minimum. 60 fps is smoother on high-refresh screens and is worth it for hero and ad videos.
